Honorary Minister of Women's Affairs Receives Courtesy Call from UN Representative

PHNOM PENH: On Monday afternoon (4 April 2022), the Minister of Women's Affairs, Ing Kantha Phavi, received a courtesy visit from the United Nations Representative to Cambodia, Pauline Tamesis, on the occasion of the completion of her mission in Cambodia.

During the meeting, the Minister and the UN Representative spoke about the cooperation and good partnership between the Ministry of Women's Affairs and UN agencies in Cambodia — such as the UNDP, UN Women, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNIDO — in promoting gender equality and empowering women in Cambodia.

Pauline Tamesis also highlighted the Ministry of Women's Affairs' past work capabilities in influencing policy frameworks, and implementing gender mainstreaming mechanisms in sectors and in reform programs. Minister Ing Kantha Phavi also thanked Pauline Tamesis for her three-year mission in Cambodia.

The talks also highlighted further joint priorities in the partnership between Cambodian Ministries and UN agencies, in particular the expansion of the scope and power of the Ministry of Women's Affairs within the framework of post-economic and social rehabilitation policy measures after the Covid-19 crisis, as well as in the 'new normal' life.
